Frequently Asked Questions About Travel Planning for Runners:

What Makes Travel Planning for Runners Different?

Working as a travel planner for runners means that I’m not just considering what race you’ll be running, but also what your body needs in the days leading up to the race and after the race. If you have supporters coming to cheer, I’ll help make sure that they can easily navigate the city to cheer. I understand exactly what it takes for a successful runcation, because I have done over 18 international half and full marathons myself.

Why Focus on Europe?

In the age of Google and ChatGPT, I believe in the idea of first hand experience. By focusing on the European running scene, I can create truly unique travel plans for runners. I can’t claim to be an expert on the entire world, but I am an expert when it comes to running in Europe.

What Travel Planning Option is Right for Me?

With four different service levels designed to cater to every runners needs, it can be difficult to pick which option is correct for you.

If you’re just getting started, or have planned most of the trip yourself, the consultation call may be best. I can help find a race that suites your needs, or finalize your trip details to make sure that you are resting your legs. A consultation is also perfect for people deciding between a trip itinerary or end-to-end trip planning. After every consultation call, you will be sent a coupon to deduct the price of the consultation if you decide to upgrade services.

The travel itinerary is a great choice for people who are willing and able to do all of the booking themselves. It allows you the benefit of my knowledge and experience traveling Europe, while also leaving the final details in your hands. Similar to the consultation call, if you decide to upgrade to end-to-end trip planning, I will give you a discount for the price of a travel itinerary.

End-to-end trip planning is my suggestion for anyone who wants to have everything taken care of. This is the best option for people who already have too much on their plate with training, work, family, and their social life. Every single step in the planning and booking process will be handled for you, so all you have to do is hop on a plane.

If you are traveling with eight or more people, whether it’s a running club or just friends, my Running Club option will be the best choice for you to ensure that your group is properly taken care of.

Why is There a Fee for Travel Planning for Runners?

You may have heard a more traditional travel agent say “using a travel agent is free”. That isn’t entirely true. Travel agents work off of commissions provided by the tours, hotels, and transportation. Larger chain travel operators will typically provide a higher commission, which means travel agents are more likely to send clients to them.

In addition, some of these companies offer agents the ability to quietly mark up prices on the back end. Instead of paying $25 for a ticket, you will get a receipt that includes $25 for the ticket and $5 in unspecified fees. These fees are typically added by the travel agent to make a commission. In addition, a traditional travel agent may not allow you to use any points you have for flights or hotels, since these will not give them a commission.

I don’t do that. I believe in full price transparency and creating the dream vacation for you, not a trip based on where I can get the largest commission. Charging a fee upfront allows me the freedom to do that.

What Are My Qualifications to be a Travel Planner for Runners?

I became a Travel Specialist for runners after seeing first hand just how different a normal vacation is to traveling to run. In 2023 I ran a half marathon every month in a new country, I learned the ins and outs or planning a runcation, mistakes to avoid, and how to properly rest your legs while sight seeing. Today, I have done 16 half marathons and two marathons in 14 countries.

I have also been featured in Runner’s World, sharing advice for runners looking to travel to Europe to race.
